Achieving your Award
To complete your Award, you need to make sure:
– You’ve done all your sections for the minimum time required, for an average of an hour a week
– Your Assessors have provided an Assessor’s Report for each of your activities, detailing how you met your goals and how you have progressed.
These reports then need to be either:
– Uploaded to eDofE either by taking a picture/scan of the Assessor Report found in your Welcome Pack or the Assessor can submit a digital report online via the Assessor portal.
– Given to your leader if you have chosen not to use eDofE and instead submit your Award through your leader
Certificates and Badges
Once you’ve completed all of your sections and your Award has been approved, you will receive your certificate and badge!
Remember, as part of the Joint Award Initiative, you can choose which certificate and badge you would like to receive. You can choose a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), Gaisce: The President’s Award or a Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Certificate and Badge.
Once you have completed your Award and your leader has approved everything, you will receive your Certificate and Badge and be able to progress to the next level!
Most centres will arrange an event or time for you to be presented with your certificate and badge!
Remember, as part of the Joint Award Initiative, you can choose which certificate and badge you would like to receive. You can choose a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), Gaisce: The President’s Award or a Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Certificate and Badge.
When completing your Gold Award, in addition to choosing which certificate and badge you would like, you also choose where you would like to attend a Gold Award Celebration Event.
If you choose a DofE or Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Certificate and Badge, you can choose from one of the following locations to attend a Gold Award Celebration Event and these are usually attended by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
Buckingham Palace, London
Palace of Holyroodhouse. Edinburgh
Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland
If you choose a Gaisce: The President’s Award Certificate and Badge, you will be invited to attend a Gold Award Celebration event at either Dublin Castle or Áras an Uachtaráin. These events are usually attended by The President of Ireland, Uachtarán na hÉireann.
